In a remarkable testament to India's growing stature in the global culinary scene, two Indian pizzerias have secured prestigious spots on the Top 50 Pizza's list of the best pizzerias in the Asia Pacific for 2024. Gurugram's Da Susy, under the leadership of Chef Susanna di Cosimo, achieved an impressive 13th position, while Leo's Pizzeria in New Delhi, spearheaded by Amol Kumar, was ranked 44th. This achievement underscores the increasing popularity and excellence of pizza in India, competing against the best in the Asia Pacific region.

The Top 50 Pizza list, published by an Italy-based media organisation, is renowned for its rigorous evaluation process, highlighting the finest pizzerias around the globe. The inclusion of Da Susy and Leo's Pizzeria not only celebrates the quality and innovation present in the Indian pizza scene but also marks the second consecutive year these establishments have been recognized, reflecting their sustained excellence and commitment to culinary mastery.

The top honours for 2024 went to Pizza Bar (Japan), Crosta Pizzeria (Philippines), and Ristopizza (Japan), demonstrating the diverse and competitive nature of the Asia Pacific's pizza culture. India's representation on this prestigious list is a significant accomplishment, showcasing the nation's ability to blend traditional Italian pizza-making techniques with local flavours and ingredients, creating unique and delightful culinary experiences.

Reacting to this honour, Da Susy shared a message of gratitude and excitement on social media, especially noting the significance of the announcement coinciding with Women's Day. Amol Kumar of Leo's Pizzeria expressed his overwhelming joy and the motivation to continue improving, with hopes of climbing higher in the rankings next year.

The name itself, French for “thank you,” embodies Sharma’s vision of creating a space that exudes warmth, appreciation, and elegance.

Spread over 9,000 sq. ft., the restaurant’s interiors blend opulence with contemporary design. The space features plush seating, inviting lighting, and skylights that transition from sunlit brilliance during the day to an intimate, starlit ambience by night. For exclusive gatherings, Mercii offers a private chamber, ensuring a refined experience tailored to every occasion.

A Culinary Journey Led by Chef Dennis Koll

At the heart of Mercii’s experience is its culinary artistry, curated by Group Culinary Director Dennis Koll. Having trained under Michelin-starred chefs and worked at prestigious establishments like Burj Al Arab, Koll brings a global perspective to the menu, offering a symphony of European flavors with a creative twist.

  • Matar Hummus and Lavash Chaat – a fusion of traditional hummus with Indian influences
